Governor Andy Beshear attends the inauguration of the new London transport facility

LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) – A major transportation facility recently opened in London.

60 to 70 trucks are expected to pass through the WB Transport facility each day, which will help create more than 150 jobs in the region.

“WB transportation cuts the ribbon today on the magnificent 200,000 square foot facility on 20 acres at Grier Industrial Park,” Governor Andy Beshear said.

Company co-founder Randal Weddle said the new transshipment facility is helping create careers.

“The first phase, we hired 150 employees, and we were thrilled when they said we were creating so many jobs,” he said. “Over the next year, we will peak at 250 in this building.”

Despite all the extra weight on the area’s roads, Beshear said people shouldn’t be worried about more potholes.

“The first phase of road improvements for this facility ensuring that it will reduce the impact on this community, the right-of-way, the design, is included in the two-year road plan moving forward,” said the governor.

Beshear added that this type of job growth is no longer uncommon for the Commonwealth. He said the SNP recently improved Kentucky’s economic outlook from bad to positive for the first time in 15 years.
